Smelling Art
Ernesto Ventós has left us an extensive legacy, with the foundation that bears his name Fundación Ernesto Ventós, which is not only focused on art, but also wants to enhance and give importance to the sense of smell, from its most social side.
The Ernesto Ventós Foundation has the social mission of bringing the olfactory world closer to people, because its experience and recognition take on the value it acquired for the perfumer Ventós.
The Foundation was born with the aim of bringing the artistic experience closer through this sense that we often underestimate, smell. Through the actions, workshops and dissemination that the Foundation develops, the discovery of everything that the act of smelling can contribute, a sensory perception that leads directly to the brain and evokes emotions, memories and sensations will be provoked.
For Ernesto Ventós to smell was to live, to see contemporary art was to recover olfactory experiences that were in his memory. The perfumer did not want anyone to be left without experiencing these profound and wonderful experiences for him. He wanted to share what has been a life lacking a sense, that of hearing, and how this lack made him develop in a spectacular way the sense of smell.
Ventós enhanced this ability through his profession as a perfumer, but also thanks to his devotion to contemporary art. Through the Foundation we can awaken this dormant sense for many people and live new experiences complemented by smells. In this way we can learn to smell, and to appreciate this sense through any artistic expression or experience.
