From the Ernesto Ventós Foundation, we would like to introduce to you to “Art in Essence” the podcast by the Ernesto Ventós Foundation. It is a program where we present a series of brief encounters with the different artists who form the olorVISUAL collection.
Led by Carmen Corbera, a close friend of the Foundation, creator and host of the podcast “El Mundo del Arte” that brings the art world closer to all audiences by discussing various aspects of the art industry through conversations with industry experts. Carmen is now also the presenter and director of the program “Art in Essence.”
In this program, Carmen will have the opportunity to provide context with each artist regarding the different artworks that form our main collection (olorVISUAL), recalling the figure of our founder, Ernesto Ventós, his relationship with these artists, and his unique way of conversing with the artworks, always seeking the connection between the artwork and its olfactory note, evoking a sensory memory.
In this first episode, Carmen will converse with Xano Armenter, an artist present in the olorVISUAL collection with the artwork “MESA CON ESENCIAS Y PERFUMES” accompanied by the descriptive text written by him:
“On a large table, the painting recreates an ancient art form through bottles of diverse order and symbols, thanks to a thousand aromas and exquisite essences that, since our awakening as a species, are more valuable than treasures snatched from the gods. It manages to generate the harmonious concert of scents, like a piece or trophy obtained through our perception and mastery of nature.”
We hope you enjoy this new adventure we are embarking on, and we provide a brief introduction to the person who accompanies us in this first episode: Xano Armenter is a Catalan painter born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1956. He studied art and design at the Eina School in Barcelona, as well as at the School of Visual Arts and the New York Academy in New York. He settled in Manhattan in 1980 and witnessed the emergence of hip-hop, the rise of graffiti, and the renewed interest in painting in New York’s East Village.
His work has been exhibited on numerous occasions and is part of private and public collections in Japan, Spain, the United States, France, and Great Britain. Currently, he lives and works in the Gracia neighborhood of Barcelona.
Xano Armenter’s artwork shows influences from pop art, graffiti, and figurative expressionism that characterized that era. In his paintings, you can appreciate a balanced combination of expressive sensitivity and thoughtful beauty.
