Smell and Photography are in Sarah Moon’s exhibition (Foto Colectania)
This past weekend, the Fundación Ernesto Ventós held a unique olfactory workshop in collaboration with Fundació Foto Colectania. The activity was designed to explore how art and scent can connect, awakening new ways for participants to interpret works from a multisensory perspective.
The workshop focused on identifying connections between Foto Colectania’s collection and the olorVISUAL collection from Fundación Ernesto Ventós, examining works by artists shared by both institutions, such as Albarrán Cabrera, Cristina de Middel, Cristina García Rodero, and Chema Madoz. The goal was to transfer the olfactory interpretations of works from one collection to the other, expanding the possibilities for understanding and perceiving the pieces.
Additionally, attendees were invited to engage with the work of Sarah Moon, the central figure of the exhibition Sarah Moon: Time at a Standstill at Foto Colectania. Through this activity, families linked olfactory proposals to the photographs of the renowned artist, delving deeper into the relationship between visual art and scent perception.
With this workshop, the Fundación Ernesto Ventós reinforces its mission to teach people to smell through art, opening doors to new ways of understanding the world around us. Furthermore, this activity highlights the Foundation’s commitment to collaborating with cultural institutions, creating joint projects that bring art closer to the public from innovative and authentic perspectives.
