‘Everything that moves gives off a smell. Everything that moves leaves a track, a trail, a trace of what it is.
‘The Collection of Backgrounds series to which this piece belongs is based on a movement on the structure of a painting: passing in front what is behind; an inverse gesture that calls into question the “classical” conception in its elaboration.
‘In this way, the order of the layers is inverted. What is in the background moves to the foreground, leaving behind what is supposedly important in the painting. And in this inverse movement the planes separate, the air gets into the painting and leaves a trace that helps us understand its structure; or perhaps we lose ourselves even more in it.’
