Olfaction consulting
Olfaction consulting consists of incorporating the olfactory perspective into spaces, activities, events and objects in a conscious, considered and case-adapted way.
It’s not simply a matter of adding smell to a place or event, it’s all about understanding their particular physical, sensory and symbolic characteristics and interpreting these through sensory resources based on smell.
Olfaction consulting sets out to increase and diversify the possibilities of perception and interpretation in a specific artistic, heritage and cultural context to enhance the core objectives of knowledge acquisition, didactics and dissemination.

Why add the olfactory perspective to cultural and artistic contexts?
Even though we may not be fully aware of it, the sense of smell is a fundamental tool in the development of our lives, with wide-ranging impacts on how we interpret and relate to the world around us. Numerous studies have shown that the sense of smell is essential in the development of important capabilities such as memory, language, behavior, the autonomic nervous system, and emotions.
Adding the olfactory perspective to any context enables us to work with these capacities and engage key processes such as identification with our environment, the construction of our personality, what we desire and reject, the recovery or creation of memories, the establishment of social ties and even reflect on our decision-making.
Olfaction consulting offers olfactory itineraries, olfactory proposals for interpreting and responding to works of art, exhibitions and cultural spaces in general, as well as olfaction-related exposition stands, all focused on improving and increasing the sensory experience of an activity.

Education and workshops
We can provide a variety of authentic workshops and activities, each one designed to awaken curiosity and a passion for the sense of smell through experiments and practice.
We believe in learning based on creativity and generosity, offering the opportunity to live an experience of personal discovery and awareness through sensoriality.
For education centres
We offer a wide range of activities specifically adapted to the curricular objectives and needs of the students according to their educational stage.
All our workshops start with a guided tour of the NASEVO base in the Colònia Güell Industrial Precinct, where you can enjoy the exhibition spaces, workshop and documentation centre of the Fundación Ernesto Ventós.
#1 What does this smell remind you of?
(Primary Education – Secondary Education – Baccalaureate)
We will discover how memory and smell are closely related through an olfactory identification game.
We will use essences that remind us of familiar smells to demonstrate that smell is not only a fundamental resource in the construction of our memories but also a powerful tool with which to revive and relive them.
Depending on the educational stage, we select more or less complex themes and content.
#2 A collection of noses
(Primary Education – Secondary Education – Baccalaureate)
We will demonstrate that art can be experienced through the sense of smell thanks to the collections of Ernesto Ventós Omedes, founder and artist of the Foundation.
We will engage with a selection of artworks from the colección olorVISUAL (Ernesto collector) and the colección NASEVO (Ernesto artist) to present and discuss key concepts of contemporary art and the olfactory world.
We will explore more or less complex themes, contents and artworks to correspond to the educational stage.

Exhibitions

NASEVO. Science and Essences

The exhibition explores the scientific and creative processes of a multisensory artist who unites color and scent through the object NOSE. Just as the perfumer works with a palette of essences, the artist assembles a palette of colors. For NASEVO, these two palettes are one and the same.
