Exploring Memories Through Smell: Olfactory Workshop with ONCE

Dec 13, 2024 | Activities

The Ernesto Ventós Foundation had the pleasure of offering a specially designed olfactory workshop for ONCE users. This workshop focused on exploring olfactory memory, working with the memories and emotions that scents evoke in visually impaired individuals.

Throughout the activity, participants shared personal experiences related to various aromas, connecting with moments in their lives that might otherwise have remained hidden in memory. This sensory journey highlighted the role of smell as a powerful tool for reactivating emotions and unique narratives.

The experience was especially enriching for both the participants and the Ernesto Ventós Foundation, which remains committed to its mission of exploring the world and its perceptions through non-visual means. Initiatives like this demonstrate the ability of the senses to become vehicles of connection and enjoyment beyond visual limitations.

With this action, the Foundation strengthens its commitment to collaborating with organizations working with people with disabilities, supporting projects that embrace and value sensory diversity as a tool for collective enrichment.
We will continue working to ensure that smell and memory remain pathways to inclusion, discovery, and shared well-being.
