Chemical Ecosystem by Yolanda Uriz at «Not to be Senseless»
The artwork Chemical Ecosystem, winner of the latest NASEVO grant, will be presented during October the 26th in The Hague (Netherlands) as part of the Not to be Senseless event, a day dedicated to neurodivergent art that seeks to open new perspectives on sensory perception.
This event, organized by Journey Through the Senses with the support of the Creative Industries Fund NL and the Municipality of The Hague, aims to highlight artistic practices developed by neurodivergent individuals and collectives. These practices include experiences such as synaesthesia, savant syndrome, or autism, addressing both art created by neurodivergent individuals and works that explore their experiences. Not to be Senseless not only seeks to highlight neurodivergent art but also to foster dialogues about the different ways we perceive the world.
In this edition, which focuses on the sense of smell, Yolanda Uriz presents her work Chemical Ecosystem, which investigates the relationship between sound and smell, exploring how synaesthesia between these senses impacts our ability to communicate. Through the fusion of sound and olfactory stimuli, Uriz offers a reflection on the chemical ecosystems that surround us and how these can trigger new forms of perception and communication.
